The Flower Shop (2021)

A string quartet work including speaking parts for all performers. The text is an excerpt from Virginia Woolf’s novel Mrs Dalloway (1925) and I tried to preserve the decadent and sensual nature of the text. Mrs Dalloway is filled with incredible passages regarding flowers that evoke the sight, smell, and feel of flowers and this passage is one of my favorites. The work was premiered by the Lowell Chamber Orchestra in the summer of 2022 but unfortunately there is no video available.
