The Golem (2022)

An unaccompanied work for SATB choir. The text comes primarily from Rabbi Eleazar of Worms’ commentary on the kabbalistic book known as the Sefer Yetzirah (The Book of Creation) and describes the steps that must be taken to create a golem. The first half of the work is a slow and spooky introduction to the more rhythmically-driven second half. This work was premiered by BRACE New Music Choir in early September 2023.
